The GROW 2020 conference is aimed at female-identified undergraduate students who may be interested in pursuing a graduate degree in the mathematical sciences. The conference is open to undergraduates from U.S. colleges and universities, including international students.  Visit: https://mathematics.uchicago.edu/grow2020/ for detailed  information and updates.

Applications for GROW 2020 can be submitted at https://www.mathprograms.org/db/programs/966 starting April 6, 2020. The committee is currently screening applications; those submitted by September 1, 2020 will be given full consideration.

This event is being supported by the University of Chicago Department of Mathematics and the National Science Foundation.

Prof. Lek-Heng Lim has been named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) for 2020 for his contributions to applied mathematics, particularly numerical linear algebra.

Prof. Rebecca Willett has been leading a new initiative sponsored by the Office for National Laboratories at the University of Chicago in partnership with Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab.

The workshop Mathematical Trends in Medical Imaging, organized by the Committee on Computational and Applied Mathematics (CCAM) at the University of Chicago, will bring together researchers working on both theoretical and practical aspects of inverse problems to discuss recent trends and new challenges in the field, mainly focusing on its applications in medical imaging. Topics include, but are not limited to, mathematical modelling, analytic and geometric methods, computational approaches and numerical algorithms.

Tingran Gao, William H. Kruskal Instructor, has been developing geometric learning frameworks to analyze 3-D scans of complex biological surfaces.
