CAM PhD Student Adela DePavia Awarded GEM Fellowship

November 1, 2021

Second year CAM PhD Student Adela DePavia has been awarded a GEM PhD Fellowship!

Regarding the award, Adela shares, "I'm really grateful to have been awarded a GEM PhD Fellowship, sponsored by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). As part of my fellowship, I interned for LLNL as part of their Data Science Summer Institute, a program that partners students interested in fields of statistics, computer science, and mathematics with laboratory researchers working on problems relevant to the students' interests. I was particularly fortunate to work with Grant Boquet and Eisha Nathan, who taught me a great deal about working with mixture models.

If any students are interested in learning more about GEM or LLNL, I would be happy to talk to them about my experience and the application process."

Congratulations, Adela!
