Background
Yian Chen is a Ph.D. student in computational and applied mathematics at the University of Chicago. He was born and raised in a small coastal city of China. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and applied mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2017 and a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018. While at UW-Madison, he discovered a passion for computational mathematics and conducted a research on climate modeling and data processing. He aspires to pursue a career in mathematical research and application. He has great interests in computational mathematics, data analysis and probability theory, and meanwhile, he always keeps himself open for other topics.
