Background
Prior to his PhD program, Richard studied physics at Caltech and worked in Silicon Valley as a machine learning engineer. He is primarily interested in problems at the intersection of computation and biology. When not in front of his laptop, Richard can be found immersed in a book or breaking a sweat at the gym.
