Deadlines

Course Registration: New and returning students are required to meet with advisors, register online, and submit advisor-approved registration forms to Jonathan Rodriguez by Friday, Sept. 22 at noon.
Required for all students.

OIA Online Orientation for International Students:

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training: Incoming MCAM students must complete and obtain certification in the Responsible Conduct of Research through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). You will receive instructions by email — you will complete CITI training entirely online.  MCAM students must complete the CITI program RCR training and earn certification by the end of your first quarter.  The training will ensure you are better prepared for your ethical responsibilities as graduate students and academic researchers.
Required for all new MCAM students.

Monday, 9/18

Check-in
Stop by Jones Laboratory, Room 308, Monday morning to check in and receive informational handouts.
Time: 10:00am-11:45am

Orientation Meeting for Incoming MCAM Students
Meet with MCAM faculty and staff for introductions and an overview of the academic program.
Time: 1pm – 2pm
Location: Kent 107 (1020 E 58th St.)
Required for all new MCAM students.

Library Resources Information Session
Jennifer Hart, Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science Librarian, will give an overview of library services and resources available to all students.
Time: 3:00pm – 3:30pm
Location: Eckhart 133 (1118-32 E 58th St.)

 

Tuesday, 9/19

PSD Welcome and Orientation

Students will have the opportunity to meet Dean of Students Office staff and other faculty and staff from the Division.  This event is not required, but attendance is encouraged.

Graduate Student Orientation (UChicago GRAD)
Time: 11:30am—3:30pm

Wednesday, 9/20

IT Information Session (joint session with the Statistics programs)
Ed Friedman, John Zekos, and Mitzi Nakatsuka will explain computational resources across campus.
Time: 12pm (Noon)—12:45pm

Overview of UChicago GRAD
Nathan Hardy and Amy Rapp from the UChicago GRAD office will give an overview of career and other resources available to all students.

PSD Career Services Session (joint session with the Statistics programs)
Alma Ceballos, PSD Director of Career Services, will give an introductory career services session.

Fire Safety Training (joint session with the Statistics programs)
Gelacio Rodriguez, Laboratory Safety Specialist, will give a fire safety training presentation.
